My very first winter coat ✨

So following on from my previous post – here it is, my very first winter coat! I finished it at lunch time today and I’m pretty proud of myself ✨

It’s a #manteauolga made in warm wool coating, is fully lined (with really tiny skulls on it), has discreet seam pockets and an oversized shawl collar. This was my first time sewing with wool, first time bagging a lining, first time setting in a sleeve. The video tutorial that goes with this pattern was sooo helpful!

I really wanted this coat to be super comfy with a jumper underneath (pictured with my me-made #novicecardiganchunkyedition), so I sized up at the waist and arms for extra ease: size 36 neckline/shoulder/armscye, 38 waist, 42 hips, 6cm extra sleeve width. Overall length shortened 10cm, sleeve length shortened 4cm (I’m so far away from the standard 168cm height 😅). I wasn’t sure how to add extra volume to the sleeves properly, but @mounasew email support answered my questions quickly and clearly (merci beaucoup Chris ! 🙇‍♀️)

Hopefully this coat will last me a few years (even if I’ll probably need to repair it from time to time, I made it so that should be easy 💪). I plan to add a couple of buttons to the front at some point, but I actually quite like the belt closure…
