#BRAugust2021 day 11: pattern drafting/hacking ✍️

I’m a pattern hacker, so most of my bras are all variations of the same pattern: the #mayabra by @afiatelier. The ones in this photo have different fabrics, finishings, necklines, straps, back bands, closures, inners…and slightly improved fit each time too.

I’ve also drafted two pantie blocks in the past couple of days - one using a Youtube tutorial by @liz_sews, and the other from the Bare Essentials Underwear book by @porcelynnesupplies. Surprisingly easy and paves the way to unlimited hacks!

And early on in my bra-making journey I did a practice-run draft of an underwire bra! I used the Bare Essentials Bras book by @porcelynnesupplies). It’s a math-based approach and she even provides a semi-automated calculator on her website if you don’t want to calculate everything manually. I never made a toile of this draft though because I learned shortly afterwards that I needed bigger wires. I’ll come back to redraft it in the coming weeks though ✨
