Zero waste project 23: two-piece swimsuit

Finally came back to finish this two-piece zero waste waste swimsuit! 🌊

I made this tankini top and high waist bottoms with a custom kit from @emroceswimwear, a New Zealand zero waste swimwear designer (who’s main business is selling handmade sustainable swimwear, check out her beautiful work!). Her patterns are very clever, and are all cut in a tessellated layout to achieve literally zero waste – so I bought precut fabric along with the pattern, to avoid creating waste on my end (I only needed one of each). The fabric is beautiful recycled @econylbrand Lycra, and it turns out that I loved not having to cut the fabric pieces myself πŸ˜„)

The bottoms are super cute and I love the high waist. The top has a cute high neckline (I want to learn to surf at some point so this is good!) and interesting details at the back – I love the opening and the ties. And it has a built-in shelf bra! I will probably need to go back and shorten the waistband of the top, because my waist is smaller than the draft, but for now I don’t care and I just want to ride my bike down to the beach and dive straight into the Mediterranean Sea πŸ˜„

I’m not good at photos so the ones of me wearing it are a bit twisty and stuff, but it’s kind of hard to take aesthetic selfies of tops that tie in the back πŸ˜† So those will have to do. #sorrynotsorry
