Self-striping socks

Still away from my sewing machine for a while, but I finished these self-striping socks last night! ✨

These were my first needle-knitted socks. As shown in my stories my Kitchener stitching at the toe closure wasn’t great, but after washing and drying them you can hardly tell (see last photo)! I’m pretty happy with how they turned out 😊 I really like the slightly mismatched stripes, each sock is individual while clearly being part of a pair.

I didn’t use a specific pattern, just the same basic method I’ve used before on my sock loom (details in previous post). The short row heels and rows have small gaps along the join, but I kind of like the effect for mid-season weather. Guess I need to pull them tighter or twist the stitches to close those up a bit.

I did buy some 2.5mm and 3mm needles for my next pair to compare the resulting density with these ones. I still don’t have sock blockers though, I guess I should really get some!
