Another much-needed pair of warm socks

I knit another much-needed pair of warm socks 🧦

As you may have guessed from my recent sock darning posts, my sock situation was getting very dire recently – when I started this pair I literally had one non-holey pair left to wear!

I knit this pair two-at-once, toe-up, using magic loop (don’t even want to try balancing 4-5 double-pointed needles). It’s my new favorite way to knit socks, it’s basically the same as knitting one except you cast both on the same needles, each with its own ball of yarn. And I discovered that with a simple wedge toe I don’t even need to knit to gauge - just keep increasing until it’s the right width. But mostly I really like that there’s no ā€œsecond sock syndromeā€ when knitting both socks together šŸ˜Ž And also, not worrying whether I’ll have enough yarn left to knit the other sock the same exact length.

I used a fingering weight alpaca/wool/nylon yarn on 2.5mm needles. I’m still working on my continental-style knitting, and it’s going great for the most part - but I couldn’t figure out how to do backwards loop increases with the left fingers (gonna have to YouTube that), and I really didn’t enjoy trying to knit 1x1 rib with such slippery yarn on small needles… I also recently lost my 2mm crochet hook so picking up the many dropped stitches was a nightmare šŸ˜–

They’re still drying but I love the colour, they’re lightweight and soft but very warm, and I can’t wait to put these babies on my feet šŸ˜„

Now I can finally move on to other non-sock projects, which I’m very glad about! šŸ’ƒ
