My very first espadrille sandals

Here they finally are: my very first pair of espadrille sandals!! 🌞

🇫🇷 J’en profite pour participer au défi #metsdusoleildanstonhiver de @lescousettesdudimanche et @lesminis_et_moi ! ☀️☃️ Parce qu’on peut quand même rêver du printemps n’est-ce pas ? 😆

I used a kit from @tipuandtapu and love love love the summery fabric pattern! I didn’t use the provided shoe pattern but made up my own, and used some eyelets from my sneaker kit for the shoelace holes (I punched the right size this time 😅). It took me a while to get used to using a curved needle (I even broke one), but by the end I was stitching much better.

I’ve been without sandals for a couple of years, and have never owned espadrilles before, but I’m really happy with these ones - they’re so comfy they feel like slippers!

I only have these black laces for now, but I’ll try and find some prettier ones or some matching ribbon at some point (or see if I can make some?). I like that these can be laced up differently depending on what I’m wearing - and tied at the front or back.

I think I’ll try making some espadrille sneakers for summer, I have a feeling it’ll be more comfortable in this Mediterranean climate than my old converse sneakers I usually live in. Anyone else make their own shoes or sandals?
