Cropped tank top
Not the most exciting #shaxistank you’ve ever seen, but a very useful addition to my wardrobe nonetheless!
This is the Axis Tank by @sophie_hines, in view 3 (one seam, high neckline). The pattern is sized for a 76-127cm bust.
I made this in size S, from some leftover organic cotton jersey. I expected to have some fitting issues like I always do, and was correct: I’m short so needed to remove length above the bust (and recut the neckline), and my upper bust angles out more than the draft so next time I’ll need to add more coverage at the underarm/side boob area. I’ll also remove more length on the back next time.
Aside from my personal fitting issues, it was a quick and easy sew, and the top is super comfy. It has no elastic so doesn’t dig in anywhere or leave marks. I made a wider waistband so it hits my natural waist. And I used a twin needle instead of a triple zigzag on the seam allowances.
I plan on making one or two more to layer under long-sleeved tops (including PJs) in the colder months. I might also wear them on their own in the warmer months, paired with high waisted pants/skirts – I think the high neckline looks cute! And the some-would-say-boring black will work with basically everything I’ve made so far ☺️
