I made a tiny houseplant rug
I made a tiny houseplant rug 🧶🪴
This is the trivet pattern from @bookhou’s punch needle book. I love so many of the projects in that book (cushions, pouches, rugs, baskets) – but wanted to start with something small. The trivet is meant for holding hot teapots and stuff, but I like it with a plant on it 😁
I used just a small amount of bulky wool and a regular 10 punch needle. My binding is pretty sloppy but I’m not too bothered about it. I’m still not awesome at this but it’s fun and satisfying to do anyway – and punch needle textures are so satisfying to touch (I’m that person that gallery and museum security guards keep a close eye on 😅).
This was a quick little project, once I got my embroidery hoop sorted – the base cloth kept slipping out of it until I wrapped the inner hoop with bias binding (thanks for the tip @erinlewisfitzgerald!)
Maybe my next punch needle project will be a plant cosy or a cushion – trying to build up to an actual rug but I need to get better first 😆
