Progress on a sweater for my dad
Work in progress: a black merino #southwoodsweater for my dad! ✨
I was going to just make something up, but after swatching I realized my gauge matched this free pattern by @galt_houseofyarn (sizing goes from newborn to adult 5XL)! I’m knitting this with one strand of #dropsbigmerino on 4mm and 6mm needles, and I really like texture the spun wool creates.
I wanted to do a fold-over neckband for a clean edge like on the Louisiana sweater, but I kept dropping these little stitches and making mistakes – so after ripping it out multiple times (😫), I placed stitch markers every 10 stitches and it all worked out better. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to use my little crochet hook to re-knit dropped stitches, but at least now I know how to do that!
This one will take a bit longer to make than the Louisiana sweater, with the single strand and smaller needles. The raglan shaping has two knit stitches between the increases, so along with the neckband and smaller gauge, it makes this jumper look quite different from the green one 😊
