Zero waste project 20: gym top

Another activewear #xantheatshirt!

This pattern is by @lizhaywood3754 and is sized to fit a 86-178cm/34-70” bust.

I made this one from a perfect 79x79cm square of athletic knit fabric, 2 sizes bigger than my bust measurements, with the woven neckline, and without sleeves. I forgot the pocket when overlocking the front seams, so I might go back and put that in later (I’ll buy a red zip first though).

I used jersey binding for the neckline and armhole edges. The neck binding is 95% long (for stretch reduction) and sewn smoothly, so maybe it’s the bias cut of the shirt that makes it look kind of gathered?

I did the same shoulder dart as the previous top, but this time split the “tails” in two and top-stitched them to both the front and back (idea suggested by @goldfinch.limited) – so it’s a bit less bulky at the shoulder, which is nice! I might try using the dart tails as gussets next time I include sleeves on this pattern.

This fabric is even lighter and more breathable than the blue fabric, and now I just want to go straight out on my bike even if it’s way to hot for that right now!!
